Advanced Summer Course in Sustainable Automotive Engineering

Green Drive Project's Summer Course for 2017 will take place in Bandung, Indonesia. During these two weeks of intensive program  (2nd July - 15th July), students will improve their knowledge and skills in specific topics related to the design of future cars and more sustainable transportation systems. The course will help them to select functionally adequate materials for automotive industry applications according to design specifications and requirements.

Live an exciting Advanced Summer Course @ Bandung

The course is co-organized by the Green-Drive consortium, gathering Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) as host and four european academic institutions: University of Antwerp, Loughborough University, University of Deusto, and the University of Bordeaux. It will be held in ITB – Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering on the Ganesha campus in Bandung, Indonesia.

Participants will develop a project each week. Classes will be given by experienced researchers and project managers working on these topics.

Appropriate balance between lecturers, case studies and technological centers and company sites will give you a comprehensive overview on the expected engineering skills for the future.

 

Programme

Objectives:

The aim of this course is to enhance your engineering competences for the automotive industry. You will study some of the innovative technologies which in the areas of design automotive and driving safety and will be the key components of future vehicles.

Three interlinked topics will be examined during this summer course:

  1. Powertrain technology influences energy consumption & offers greater control over internal and external safety
  2. Crashworthiness and manufacturing design represent an opportunity to reduce energy consumption and contribute to the safety of the vehicle's occupants
  3. Vehicle dynamics related to vehicle performance to increase comfort and safety and also reduce fuel consumption

Travel to Bandung

Bandung is located approximately 140 km south eastern of Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. The most convenient way to reach Bandung is by flying to its airport, however only a few airlines are served by the airport. Alternatively, Bandung can be reached by flying to Jakarta’s international airport, the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK), and then from there take a shuttle car to Bandung.

Reaching Bandung from Jakarta Airport

The 170 km distance from Jakarta Airport to Bandung could be traveled in 3 hours, however, due to unpredictable traffic in and around Jakarta area, be prepared for the journey to be stretched up to 4-5 hours.
